Who is qualify to be company secretary in Malaysia?

It's clearly stated in the Companies Acts 1965 Section 139A (a) & (b) that the following persons can be company secretary:

  1. Chartered Accountant (He/she must be registered under Malaysian Institute of Accountants (MIA) [1] )
  2. Chartered Secretary (He/she must be registered under Malaysian Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators (MAICSA) [2] )
  3. Licensed Secretary (He/she must be licensed by Company Commission of Malaysia to be company secretary)
  4. Lawyer (He/she must be register with Malaysian Bar, or relevant authorities)
